Winter is here, and while many of us find warmth and comfort indoors, life for our wildlife isn’t so easy. Hedgehogs, squirrels, foxes, and badgers face some of their toughest challenges as temperatures drop and resources dwindle.
These familiar yet vulnerable animals need our help to survive the harsh months ahead. That’s why I’ve launched the Winter Wildlife Protection campaign—an opportunity to make a difference while bringing a touch of nature-inspired art into your life.
A small act, a significant impact
When you look into the soulful eyes of a fox or imagine the quiet resilience of a badger digging through the frost, it’s clear: these creatures are part of our shared world, and their survival is tied to ours.
Through this campaign, I’ve created four original paintings—celebrating the unique beauty of hedgehogs, squirrels, foxes, and badgers. These animals represent not just wildlife but hope, resilience, and the importance of every living being in the ecosystem.
I’m giving away 1,000 free A5 prints of these paintings to raise awareness and inspire action. For just £5 to cover postage and packaging, you’ll receive a stunning piece of art and the chance to help amplify the voices of our wildlife.
Why foxes, squirrels, hedgehogs, and badgers?
- Foxes are clever and resourceful, yet urban expansion often leaves them scavenging through dangerous terrain. In the colder months, many face injuries or starvation.
- Squirrels, with their boundless energy and cheeky charm, rely on stored nuts and seeds to survive—but food scarcity and habitat loss put them at risk.
- Hedgehogs are small but mighty, hibernating through winter. However, without enough fat reserves, they may not survive until spring.
- Badgers, the quiet diggers of the night, play a vital role in maintaining soil health. Yet human activity is increasingly threatening their habitats.
These animals remind us of the delicate balance of nature and how even small changes in their environment can have a ripple effect on their survival.
Be part of the change
This campaign isn’t just about giving away art—it’s about creating a community of wildlife champions. Here’s how you can join in:
- Claim your print: a random animal from a selection of four unique artworks and get a free A5 print. Simply cover £5 for postage and packaging.
- Spread the word: share the campaign with friends, family, and fellow nature lovers. Together, we can amplify this message.
Every print sent out is a conversation starter, a spark of awareness, and a reminder that we can all take big or small steps to help protect wildlife.
Why it matters
Winter is a make-or-break season for these animals. With your help, we can bring attention to their struggles and inspire meaningful action. Whether it’s leaving out water for wildlife, building hedgehog highways, or planting trees to provide shelter, your actions can make a real difference.
Together, we can create a ripple effect of compassion and change.
Art with a purpose
Art has a unique way of connecting us to the world around us. These paintings are more than just images—they’re a call to action, a reminder that the fox curled up against the cold or the squirrel leaping from branch to branch deserves our attention and care.
By claiming your free print, you’re not just bringing beautiful artwork into your home—you’re helping to create a world where wildlife can thrive.
Join the movement
Let’s make this winter a little easier for our furry friends. Be part of the Winter Wildlife Protection Campaign today. Together, we can turn small actions into a brighter future for hedgehogs, squirrels, foxes, and badgers.
Because every creature, big or small, deserves a chance to thrive.
A message from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society
Hedgehog populations in the UK are in sharp decline, and if we don’t act now, it could be too late. Hedgehogs are an important indicator species, so when they begin to struggle, it’s a sign that many other species – whether that’s insects, birds, dormice or even us humans – are likely to be in trouble too.
There is, however, lots we can do to help hedgehogs thrive in the wild - find out more at www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk
